In ancient times, Bhruangamari was a river bed area. All the rivers in this region were a rainy season. The rivers flowing in this region have changed their course over and over again. The abandoned course of the river has created bills and ponds similar to canal-bills. Nearly all the bills and ponds are suitable for fish farming. The phrase 'Mahee Bhite Bangali' is still true to the residents of Bhurungamari. At one time Bhurungamari Rui was famous for the fish.
