In ancient times, Bhruangamari was a river bed area. All the rivers in this region were a rainy season. The rivers flowing in this region have changed their course over and over again. Due to the abandoned course of the river, bills and ponds have formed a similar kind of quilt. Nearly all the bills and ponds are suitable for fish farming. The phrase 'Mahee Bhite Bangali' is still true to the residents of Bhurungamari. At one time Bhurungamari Rui was famous for the fish. Bhurengamari has been named after the abundance of Bhurunga fish. People used to call each other while they were trying to fish fish, then go to kill Bhurunga. Thus the name Bhurangamari has been introduced.
